Who wants to get inked?

You have been salivating on your dear friend’s tattoo for a long time now. You personally think that your friend’s tats are super hot. You have imagined yourself over and over again about getting one for your own. But in one way or another, something hinders you from getting it. You still have this uncertainty over deciding since you are well aware that a tattoo is not just like a new haircut or new shoes. A tattoo is here to stay, for the rest of your life, and there is no turning back.

So before you take that one of the most important decisions of your life, I hope that what I’m going to tell you will help whether you will push through getting inked, or let the fantasy go.

1.       It will definitely hurt
If you are not aware yet, the process of applying tattoo is by repeatedly puncturing your skin with a needle to let the ink be absorbed in the punctured areas. If being pricked by a needle once made you scream or cry, imagine that being done a hundred times. Torture eh? But as they always say, “no pain, no gain,” so if you really want that tattoo so bad, I say that you should be ready for the pain that will come. No distractions will soothe you; even plugging in your mobile earphones, or playing games with your latest gadgets will prove to be futile.

2.       Consider your reasons
You have to go back and ask yourself again why you want to get a tattoo. If you end up with reasons like, “because all my friends have theirs” or “my boyfriend wants me to get one,” then I will be the one to tell you that you should not get it after all. Deciding to get inked should be a personal decision; you should be 100% involved because this could change your life. It will be forever imprinted on your skin; thus, you should be certain and absolute.

3.       Consider the future
Since your tattoo will definitely stay, you have to get a glimpse of the future and think about how it could affect yourself and your life. If tattoos on the tongue and gums are now hot in the social trend, that doesn’t mean that they will still be in for the next ten years. A tattoo is not like your rotating case stand that you could easily change when you don’t want it anymore. So I say that you should choose a safer route around it by being more neutral with your decision when it comes in the design and the location of your tattoo.

In the event that you already had your dream tattoo, now you can flaunt it. Wear it loud and proud and be pleased of the decision that you recently made for yourself.
